On Thursday, October 23rd grade K through 4 joined GVFD for a visit to the
Fire Safety House and a tour of an engine. The Fire Safety House is
designed as a home's interior with a full-sized kitchen and bedroom.
Classes were able to watch as "smoke" from a waste paper basket "fire"
filled the bedroom, learn to "fall and crawl" below the smoke and safely
exit the building. Students learned about kitchen safety, fire safety
in their home, what to do in a fire and the importance of practicing home
fire drills.
Thank you to Hampton Fire and Rescue for loaning the
mobile classroom.
